An East London woman could face a charge of child neglect after her five children died in a fire that engulfed her shack on Monday.
Police spokesperson, captain Mluleki Mbi, said the incident happened on Monday night in Msintsi Location at Potsdam outside East London when the woman locked the children inside to go visit her boyfriend .
He says neighbours were awoken by the screams of the children at around 8.30 Monday night but could not get into the shack which had burglar proofing on the windows and doors.
Mbi says by the time emergency services arrived the shack had been completely gutted.
All five children, aged between five and 16, died on the scene.
