Saps will not tolerate political violence

The SA Police Service says it will not tolerate any form of political violence in the build up to next year's elections.

The Police Ministry made the comment on Tuesday as Minister Nathi Mthethwa visited the family of an ANC councillor who was shot dead on Sunday night.

Ministry spokesperson, Zweli Mnisi, says Minister Mthetwa has called on communities who may have information about crime, be it political in nature, to come forward.

"Violence is violence irrespective of ones political affiliation, lets have tolerance lets refrain from making these inflammatory statements. Saps are a-political and any person who commits a crime will be arrested" Mnisi said.
