Five men, believed to be part of a syndicate that uses remote control jammers to steal valuable items from motorists, have been arrested in Mthatha in the Eastern Cape.
Police spokesperson Lt-Col Mzukisi Fatyela says the men, aged between 25 and 35 were arrested on Saturday.
He says five of the men allegedly used a remote control jamming devise to prevent motorists from locking their cars, enabling them to take any valuable items.
Fatyela says two other men were arrested for buying stolen goods.
He says the suspects targeted motorists at shopping centres and complexes.
Police recovered six remote control jamming devices, a firearm and three laptops.
