The Eastern Cape has registered its first positive case of the Covid-19 virus, as the number of confirmed cases in the country rose to 240.
This was announced by the National Institute for Communicable Diseases on Saturday.
Health Minister, Dr Zweli Mkhize earlier warned that because of the nature of the viral infection, up to 60 percent of the population could ultimately be affected.
According to the latest figures, there are now 125 cases in Gauteng, 74 in the Western Cape, 27 in KZN, 7 in the Free State, 5 in Mpumalanga and one in the Eastern Cape.
