A fire has gutted a Port Alfred business despite brave efforts to contain the blaze.
Police spokesperson, Captain Mali Govender, says personnel from a local security company on patrol discovered the fire at a local motor spares shop in Bathurst Street.
She says emergency services, including the local SAPS responded within minutes, and tried in vain to contain the blaze.
However, Govender says they did succeed in preventing the fire from spreading further.
The cause of the fire is not known and will be the subject of a forensic investigation.
