The MTR Smit Children's Haven in Port Elizabeth has suffered extensive damage in a fire which broke out in one of its garages.
Miraculously no-one was injured in Sunday's blaze.
Police are still trying to establish the cause of the fire.
MTR Smit Director, Dr Crystal Watson, says a number of the haven's 105 children required trauma counselling after the incident.
She says damage will run into tens of thousands of rands.
"The Quantam is not even a year old and the front part and the side part of it has completely melted, so it is not really roadworthy at this stage, and the garage with all the equipment was damaged. The Fire Brigade had to break all the windows in order to prevent the fire spreading" Watson said.
