The Eastern Cape Health Department has confirmed that more than 100 metro ambulance personnel have downed tools in East London.
They're demanding that Bhisho pay them outstanding monies for housing allowances, danger and other pay as well as performance-related payments.
Health Department spokesperson, Siyanda Manana, says Health MEC, Sicelo Gqobana, is committed to addressing the outstanding payments.
"The MEC has a team to ensure that from each and every district there are people that have been sent to Bisho to make sure that all documentation is taking care of. We have assured them that out of the R191m that have been allocated to us we will pay, but all those that have been left out will be paid in the second phase" Manana said.
