East London police say the Parkside Community Hall suffered extensive damage in a fire early on Monday morning.
Police spokesperson, captain Stephen Marais, says the cause of the fire is not yet known and will be the subject of an investigation.
He says no one was injured in the blaze.
Buffalo City Municipality spokesperson, Keith Ngesi says at this stage details are still sketchy but the fire department was alerted during the early hours of Monday morning.
Ngesi says the roof of the building as well as tables and chairs have been destroyed.
He says computers had been stolen from the arts and culture section of the hall where development work takes place.
