Teams from Working On Fire are battling a massive bush fire on the outskirts of Cathcart.
Residents and other volunteers began battling the blaze yesterday which, according to resident Andrea Fick, started in Yellow Water between Whittelsea and Cathcart.
She told Algoa FM News that the fire, which is being fanned by strong winds, has already crossed 10 farms and killed an estimated 100 sheep.
Although she's called for volunteers, Working On Fire's Ian Henderson, has cautioned against this for now.
"The fire is running very fast there is also fire up in the hills and we are unable to control that. There is a very very strong wind and it is running very fast. There is a potential for a serious event and I will advice that we don't have untrained people there as they can get caught in the fire" Henderson said
