Fifth suspect arrested for Roderick Erasmus murder

A fifth suspect arrested in connection with the murder of the armed response officer, Roderick Erasmus, will make his first appearance in the Port Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Monday.

According to police, the 23-year-old man was arrested in court on Friday after appearing on a separate, drug-related charge.

He is expected to be charged with murder, hijacking, and business robbery related to the incident at a shop in Greenbushes.

Erasmus was fatally wounded when he responded to an armed robbery on the 27th of December.

He was able to wound one of the suspects before being shot.
