Two Guards from Fidelity Security Services appeared with another accomplice in the Ngqeleni Magistrates court on Monday in connection with a cash in transit robbery which occurred on the 14th of June.
Spokesperson Captain Anelisa Ngcakani says the 22-year-old Sibusiso Nkosi and the 26-year-old Cost Nkhwashu alleged that they were on their way to the Lusikisiki Post Office when two Isuzu vehicles cornered them between Ngqeleni and Port St Johns.
She says they further alleged that a suspect (their alleged accomplice) poured petrol over their vehicle and threatened to set it alight if they do not hand over the money.
The guards "complied", before allegedly being locked inside their car.
The suspects fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash, two rifles and a pistol.
Ngcakani says an investigation immediately commenced which quickly led them to Johannesburg where the two guards and the 30-year-old Tokola Gan were arrested.
All three made a brief appearance in court and will remain in custody until their next appearance on the 5th of August for a formal bail application.
