Police in the Eastern Cape have opened an inquest docket after a fetus was found in a fridge at a clinic in Bityi.
SAPS spokesperson, Sergeant Kaya Matola-Mvanyashe, says the supervisor was informed by another staff member about a fetus that was seen in one of the fridges that used to store placentae on Friday.
She says they reported the incident to police on Saturday, and on arrival at about 3 pm members found the fetus wrapped inside a plastic bag.
Matola-Mvanyashe says only staff members have access to the fridge.
She says no arrests have yet been made and an investigation is underway.
