A two-year-long search for a missing Eastern Cape caregiver has ended in tragedy following the discovery of her decapitated body buried under a bathtub in Dutywa.
The 34-year-old Noluvuyo Ndema-Nonkwelo, who was employed by the Eastern Cape Department of Health as an HIV & AIDS lay counsellor, was reported missing more than two years ago by her 43-year-old husband.
He has since been arrested.
Captain Siphokazi Mawisa says a family member became suspicious when they saw the family bathtub no longer mounted on the floor.
The person made contact with police which led to the grim discovery.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Butterworth Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
The gruesome discovery of Ndema-Nonkwelo’s dismembered body at her Vulindlela village home comes as the Eastern Cape is still reeling from the similar gruesome murder of Fort Hare final year law student Nosicelo Mtebeni.
She was killed in East London two weeks ago and her body parts were found in a suitcase and two bags.
Her boyfriend Alutha Pasile was arrested and remains in custody as he has abandoned his bid for bail.
