Provincial Traffic Deputy Director Charles Bramwell is reporting a number of fatal accidents in the Eastern Cape in the past 24 hours, ending Wednesday evening.
At Mbongwana locality in Greenville Mbizana, a family was travelling in a Toyota Hilux D/Cab pulling a trailer which left the main road and overturned.
Three men aged 29, 28 & 39 died on the scene.
About 20 others were taken to Greenville Hospital with various injuries.
Bramwell said it’s alleged that the Hilux was conveying people in the rear seats, back bin & also on the trailer.
Three cases of culpable Homicide and cases of reckless and negligent driving were being investigated by SAPS at Mzamba.
On the R58 between Ugie and Maclear, the driver of a Toyota Quantum lost control on slippery road conditions and rolled his vehicle.
Bramwell said one passenger was killed and ten other people were taken to Maclear Hospital in slight to serious condition.
And approximately 10 kilometers outside Lady Frere towards Cala, a Toyota Hilux LDV lost control in rainy conditions and overturned.
The driver was the only person in the vehicle and he died on the scene.
