The Eastern Cape Department of Rural Development and Agrarian Reform says a Farmers' Day will be held in Bizana on Tuesday to coincide with the first harvest of the season.
Department spokesperson, Ayabulela Ngoqo, says the day will start with a visit to the Lukholo Maize Project at Mabula Village, which has successfully planted more than 60 hectares of land...
"We are working closely with the national department in this program with the intention of ploughing about 300 000 hectares. We are going to plough the second phase around August. Our ultimate goal is to assist our farmers especially from the rural areas so that they can diversify whatever produce that they have and how we as the Department make sure that we link them with the markets" Ngoqo said.
