A farmer from the Great Brak River area has been found guilty of animal cruelty.
Twenty-nine-year-old, Jimmy Barnard, shot a 13-year -old German Sheppard-cross named Spotty, on his farm in October in 2014.
Spotty had belonged to a girlfriend of one of Barnard's employees.
Garden Route correspondent Louise Karsten reports during testimony, Spotty's owner told the court that her dog was chained when Barnard fired two shots killing her pet.
This happened in front of her children and her neighbours children.
Magistrate Retha Pretorius told the accused that he could have followed alternative options such as calling the SPCA to remove the dog or lay a charge at the police.
The matter was postponed to 26th April for sentencing.
