Eastern Cape police have launched a manhunt for the gunmen who shot and killed three members of a family in a village near Bityi on Sunday night.
Police said two assailants kicked in the door of a house in Tyalarha Locality and opened fire, killing a 73-year-old man, his 69-year-old wife and 41-year-old daughter.
Spokesperson, Captain Dineo Koena, says the couple's 28-year-old daughter was shot in the upper body but survived the attack.
She says several empty 9mm cartridges and some live rounds were found on the scene.
The motive for the attack is not yet known but Captain Koena says a task team will be established to search for the killers.
The names of the victims have not yet been released.
