Five families have been left homeless after temporary structures in Oupad outside Knysna burnt down.
The head of disaster management, Richard Meyer, says although fire fighters managed to contain the fire on Monday afternoon, five temporary homes being used by housing beneficiaries while their RDP homes are being being, had burned down.
He says there were no injuries.
Meyer says the Knysna municipality's housing department will assist the affected families in finding alternative housing.
