Nelson Mandela Bay Metro
Eskom has confirmed that power will be shut off at the Nooitgedacht water scheme on Wednesday for maintenance work.
The Nelson Mandela Bay Metro has been filling up reservoirs in anticipation.
However, with the current drought, there are still some reservoirs that have a low supply of water.
The Municipality is reminding residents to only use water for essential purposes.
It said in a statement that water tankers will be allocated to areas where storage is depleted.
Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality Executive Mayor Nqaba Bhanga visited the Nooitgedacht Water Treatment Works construction site near Addo on Monday.
He said he was confident that the continued water cuts that are caused by low dam levels throughout the City will soon be a thing of the past.
Phase 3 of the project should be completed in September.
On completion, the Treatment Works will treat an additional 65 million litres of water per day, increasing the output of the treatment works to 210 million litres of water per day.
The combined capacity of the cities main supply dams, on Monday, was standing at 16.03%.
The Kouga dam, in particular, is at an all-time low of 6.33%.
