A group of young children who appeared in court in Alexandria in the Eastern Cape on Wednesday for vandalising a school, have been given a second chance.
The six learners were part of a group of up 22 children who trashed the Alexandria High School over the holidays.
Many of them were under the age of ten.
Police said court ordered that the children must attend a diversion programme for six months.
Spokesperson, Lieutenant Luvuyo Mjekula, says they have also been ordered to stay at home and only leave to do chores as instructed by their parents.
He says social workers will monitor their progress.
