Salvors will attempt to refloat the stricken bulk carrier Kiani Satu at Buffels Bay near Knysna.
Captain Nigel Campbell of the SA Maritime Safety Authority says they're hoping the predicted swell comes through with the high tide.
Attempts to refloat the vessel failed on tuesday morning because the sea swells were not big enough.
Meanwhile, Carol Walton from the seabird and penguin rehabilitation centre says a few oiled penguins are washing up on the beach in Heralds Bay and Kleinbrak since the grounding of the Kiani Satu.
Walton is appealing to the public to keep a look out for distressed birds along the coast from Knysna to Mossel Bay.
"I appeal to all the public or anybody who lives near beaches, please if you can patrol your beaches, if you live near the beach just walk down to see if there are any birds in distress. Take an old towel and if you do see an oiled bird or penguin cover the bird, keep it warm and take it home. We will come fetch the birds as soon as possible." says Walton
