The Infrastructure and Engineering Directorate in Nelson Mandela Bay has issued a drought warning, and says the pattern from 2009 is about to repeat itself.
The directorates' Stan Groenewald says the Metro is definitely in a drought situation.
In its reaction, the Metro said there had been an 8.6 percent increase in water usage and that dam levels were currently at 86 percent.
Muncipality spokesperson, Roland Williams, said consumers need not be alarmed as there is certainly no pending drought.
He said its a reminder, however, that water is a precious commodity.
William's reiterated the call by the directorate for consumers to reduce water consumption by at least ten percent.
