Employee in court for allegedly exposing himself to elderly women in Mossel Bay home

A man who works at a facility which cares for elderly patients with Alzheimer's and Dementia in Mossel Bay has been arrested for alleged sexual assault, exposing himself to residents and for the possession of child pornography on his cell phone.

Police spokesperson Captain Malcolm Pojie says the 36-year-old man is currently in custody and will bring a formal bail application when he appears in the Mossel Bay Magistrates Court on Thursday.

He says the Da Gamaskop police were called out to the facility on the 31st of August following a complaint that the employee had exposed himself to a 79-year-old woman who is confined to her bed.

Captain Pojie says during their investigation they obtained CCTV footage where they saw another 96-year-old woman being sexually assaulted.

The employee was arrested and his phone confiscated.

Police later found images of child pornography on the device.

The cell phone has been sent for forensic analysis.
