An employee who works at the Traffic Department at the Walter Sisulu Municipality has been suspended following allegations of alleged sexual assault on municipal premises.
Municipal Manager Fezeka Ntlemeza says they are very appalled by the incident and suspended the employee with immediate effect.
She says an internal investigation will also be conducted.
The employee has since been arrested and has made his first court appearance earlier this week where he remains in custody.
The matter was postponed to the 3rd of March.
The alleged victim was a member of the public.
Ntlemeza did not elaborate on the alleged incident.
