Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says David (Siphiwo) Solomon was working on an electric fence at one of the enclosures on Wednesday when a tiger jumped out and attacked him.
She says Solomon died on the scene.
An inquest docket has been opened by Kabega Park police.
The Seaview Predator Park issued a statement on their Facebook page saying that the park would be closed on Thursday out of respect for David who started working at the park 15-years-ago.
According to the statement, the tiger named Jasper, pulled David off the fence, breaking his neck in the process.
Jasper then proceeded to jump to the enclosure next door which houses two other tigers called Judah and Amber.
They further state that a fight broke out between Judah and Jasper and that Judah was killed.
A vet from Kragga Kamma was called in to tranquillize the tigers in order for David's body and the carcass of Judah to be retrieved.
