A former Mthatha casino employee and another man have been found guilty of defrauding Mayfair Casino of half a million rand.
Hawks Eastern Cape spokesperson, Captain Yolisa Mgolodela, says 27-year-old Sinethemba Mdoda and his 28-year-old friend Yamkela Ndlala, were convicted in the Mthatha Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on Thursday.
She said Mdoda was employed as a guest relations officer at Mayfair Casino' but had colluded with the co-accused to commit the fraud by loading R500 000's worth of redeemable points for Ndlala.
Mgolodela says the Hawks' investigation and subsequent arrested prevented a potential loss of R10 million to the casino.
