A taxi driver from Elliot is expected to appear in the town's Magistrate's Court on Tuesday for allegedly kidnapping and raping a teenager.
Spokesperson Captain Ursula Roelofse says the 16-year-old victim met the 21-year-old taxi driver in town in February and she innocently gave him her phone number when he showed interest in her.
She says on the 2nd of March he phoned her and invited her to the town where he was drinking in a taxi with his friends.
The victim was offered alcohol and when she refused they drove off with her refusing to let her out.
Roelofse says they drove her all the way to the Lindile locality in Mthatha where she was locked in a house and repeatedly raped for two days.
Two days later on the 4th of March, an unknown lady opened the house and asked the girl what she was doing there.
The woman gave the teenager R50 and told her to go home.
Captain Roelofse says she immediately went to report the incident.
A Captain Gwarube took over the investigation and managed to track down the suspect on Sunday.
