A neighbourhood watch and farm patrol launched in the Elliott area of the Eastern Cape by the civil rights organisation Afri-Forum has had its first success.
AfriForum Head of Community Safety, Ian Cameron, says a neighbourhood watch patrol crossed paths last night with alleged house robbers.
He says police were called and the suspects arrested.
Cameron says the stolen items were returned to the victims with the help of the Elliot Taxi Association, which he says is assisting them in patrols and crime prevention.
According to Cameron, the community of Elliot is ready to co-operate and secure the town from criminals.
