Elderly woman murdered for alleged involvement in witchcraft

Butterworth police have arrested a 26-year old suspect following the murder of an 84-year old woman.

Police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha, says the suspect was arrested on Thursday morning.

Manatha says the elderly woman was stabbed to death on Wednesday at a village in Diphini Location.

He says the motive for the killing is suspected to be witchcraft.

The suspect will appear in the Butterworth Magistrates court on Friday.
