An elderly Eastern Cape woman who was being transported to hospital by ambulance was killed when the vehicle overturned in rainy weather Monday afternoon.
Police spokesperson, warrant officer Gerda Swart, said the victim was 83 year old Leena Damons.
She says Damons daughter who was in the back of the ambulance with her mother, the ambulance driver and his assistant suffered minor injuries.
They were taken to hospital in a second ambulance following the accident on the R-330 between Hankey and Humansdorp.
A case of culpable homicide is under investigation.
