Port Elizabeth police are investigating the murder of an elderly woman who's body was found in her Summerstrand retirement home early on Friday morning.
She has been identified as 85-year-old Hazel Huggins of Kruger Gardens.
In a notice to residents, Ken Keen, the CEO of the Echo Foundation which runs the complex said Huggins was attacked in her cottage sometime during the night.
He said she had been tied up and was found dead on Friday morning.
Keen says the Echo Foundation is committed to doing whatever is required to provide protection to residents.
Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Alwin Labans, says investigators will continue to comb the crime scene for clues.
He said that Huggins' body was found this morning when she was late for an outing.
