Elderly woman attacked and robbed at her home in George

Police in George have launched a manhunt for a male suspect who attacked and robbed an elderly lady in her home on Monday.

Police Spokesperson Captain Nolonwabo Tshengu says the suspect gained access to the 81-year-old victim's house in Stander Street by forcing open her garage door.
He says the lady was attacked before the robber left with her handbag and purse.

The victim is currently being treated at a hospital in George.

The extent of her injuries is not yet known.
