An elderly couple from Thailand has been shot and killed at their home in Southernwood in Mthatha.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Mzukisi Fatyela says the man aged 80 and his 69 year-old wife had been long-time residents of Mthatha.
He says they were killed by unkown gunmen at about nine-thirty on Friday night at their home, which backs onto their business premises.
Fatyela says the motive for the shooting is not known at this stage but that Mthatha police are following up on several leads and are confident of making a breakthrough soon.
He says one person has already been taken in for questioning.
