Port Elizabeth police are investigating a case of attempted murder following a brutal attack on an elderly women in Adcock Homes in Schauderville.
Janse Van Rensburg, says the 89-year-old woman was found by a neighbour who alerted police on Sunday.
She says the badly assaulted woman was taken to hospital for treatment.
The motive for the attack is not known and no arrests have been made.
According to a report an urgent meeting will be held on Monday to discuss the safety of the elderly people at the home.
