An 82-year-old Port Elizabeth has been arrested on a charge of murder.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said that the woman was arrested in Walmer Township in the early hours of Sunday morning.
“It is alleged that at about 04:00 this morning (Sunday), the woman woke up her neighbours in Elijah Street Walmer in location and reported that she set some of the shacks alight (3 in total),” she said.
“One body was found in one of the shacks. The identity of the deceased person is not yet known,” said Naidu.
She said the reason for the woman setting the shacks on fire is yet to be established.
“The woman was arrested for murder and will appear in court soon,” said Colonel Naidu.
