Eastern Cape police say that they are following up good leads in the murder of an elderly nun who was hijacked in Mthatha over the weekend.
The body of 82-year-old Mary Theresa Paule Tacke, was found on Monday in a stream near Libode, about 60 kilometres from where she had been hijacked by two men in Norwood, Mthatha on Sunday.
Police spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel Mzukisi Fatyela, says her belongings were still with her when her body was found.
He says there were also no visible injuries and the cause of death is still unconfirmed.
Fatyela says her stolen vehicle was recovered after the hijackers crashed the car following a high speed chase by police.
He says a fire-arm and cellphone recovered.
"There were no visible injuries but we strongly suspect that she was strangled. We are waiting for the results of the post mortem which will be done soon. We are still looking for two suspects" he said
