Knysna man drags dog behind car: Case opened

The Animal Welfare Society in Knysna says a case has been opened against a man who allegedly dragged his dog behind his car with a rope.

Society chairperson, Martin van Leeuwen, says the case was opened by two residents from Brenton on Lake following the incident last Thursday.

Police Captain Bernadine Steyn confirmed that the case was opened on Friday at the Knysna police station.

She says the incident happened at around 4pm on Thursday when a dog was allegedly dragged behind a vehicle in Galjoen Street with a rope around its neck.

The dog was admitted to the Knysna Veterinary Clinic the same day.

No arrests have been made.
