Eastern Cape police are investigating the death of an 82-year-old nun who was kidnapped during a hijacking in Mthatha.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Mzukisi Fatyela, says her body was discovered in a small stream in the veld at Nangeni on Monday afternoon.
She had been hijacked in Norwood in Mthatha on Sunday by two men who crashed her car during a police pursuit.
The suspects managed to get away but police seized a 9mm pistol with five rounds of ammunition and a cellphone that belonged to one of the men.
Fatyela says the cause of death is not yet known and investigations are continuing.
