Eastern Cape police have opened an inquest docket, following the drowning of two girls in a farm dam near East London.
Police spokesperson, Captain Stephen Marais says the two were playing on a boat at the Greensleeves place of safety for children outside Gonubie on Sunday afternoon, when they got into difficulty.
He says they tried to swim to the shore, but did not make it.
Marais says police divers retrieved the body of a 15-year old girl just after 5pm, but could not find the other body.
He says the body of the second girl, an 11-year old was found on Monday morning.
