Elderly man stabbed during home invasion outside J'Bay

An 82-year-old Eastern Cape man sustained a stab wound when three men broke into his home on a smallholding outside Jeffreys Bay early on Friday morning.

Police spokesperson, Captain Gerda Swart, says the man and his wife were woken up after midnight when the suspects gained entry to their home and threatened them with knives.

She says the intruders searched for valuables and when the complainant tried to resist, he was stabbed in the leg by one of the suspects.

Swart says the suspects took an undisclosed amount of cash from the safe, a plasma TV and fled from the scene, allegedly in a vehicle.

The complainant's wife managed to alert the police and her husband was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment.

Jeffreys Bay detectives are investigating a case of house robbery.
