At least one person has died in an accident on the corner of Stanford and Rensburg roads near the Cleary Park Shopping Centre in Port Elizabeth.
The accident happened during peak rush-hour traffic on Tuesday morning.
AlgoaFM listeners reported seeing bodies strewn across the road, moments after the accident.
Police Warrant Officer Alwin Labans has confirmed the death of at least one person.
Labans says the deceased was the driver of the car - 74 year-old Bernard McCullum of Hillside, Port Elizabeth.
Labans says the 23 year-old taxi driver is in a critical condition in Livingstone Hospital.
