A man in his 70's has drowned while crossing a low-level bridge in his double cab bakkie in Mossel Bay.
Police say the incident happened at around 9 am on Tuesday on the Geelbekvlei Road near Brandwag.
Police rushed to the scene and swam to the bakkie that was submerged underneath the water in the middle of the low water bridge.
They had to smash the window in order to pull the driver out.
He was, however, already dead.
Da Gamaskop police have opened an inquest docket.
The drowning follows heavy rain and floods in the Garden Route area.
The name of the victim has not yet been released.
