An elderly Eastern Cape man has been arrested for allegedly beating his 68-year-old wife to death.
Police spokesperson, Captain Namhla Mdleleni, says the incident occurred in the Nkondlo Administrative Area at Ngcobo on Wednesday night.
She says its alleged that the 78-year-old man had quarrelled with his wife, after which he allegedly assaulted her with a stick.
Mdleleni said that community members heard the woman's screams and alerted police.
She said a case of murder is under investigation.
The elderly man will appear in court soon.
