Quick action by Port Elizabeth police has led to the arrest of a suspect after an elderly woman was tied up and robbed in her Summerstrand retirement home.
Police spokesperson, captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, says the 82-year-old victim woke up in the early hours of Friday morning and was confronted by three suspects.
She says they tied her up before ransacking her house.
However, Janse Van Rensburg says before the intruders gagged the woman she was able to scream for help, alerting neighbours who then called the police.
One suspect was arrested and some of the stolen goods recovered.
