The Eastern Cape Department of Education is investigating a female teacher who allegedly used corporal punishment and also made racial remarks towards learners at a Uitenhage school.
Learners and parents protested at Limekhaya High School in Kwalanga on Thursday calling for the teacher's permanent dismissal.
Bhisho Education Department spokesperson, Mali Mtima, says the matter is under investigation but urged parents and learners to report these incidents.
"We have send someone to investigate the matter. We want to urge parents and learners to report any teachers making use of corporate punishment as it has been abolished by Government" Mtima said.
