Police in Port Elizabeth are looking for six suspects who broke into the house of an elderly woman in Lovemore Heights shortly after midnight on Thursday.
Spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says the 78-year-old woman dozed off in the lounge whilst watching TV in her house in Bernard Street.
The lady woke up when she heard a noise only to find six suspects in her home.
Janse van Rensburg says two men threatened her with a knife. before tying her up.
The other four men ransacked her home looking for a safe.
The victim, however, has no safe and tried to explain it to the suspects.
They eventually left with her TV, hi-fi, DVD player, jewellery and a bag with her personal belongings.
Janse van Rensburg says once the men left the elderly lady managed to crawl to her kitchen and made it to the outside of her house.
She says only at 8 am the gardener working in the complex, heard her cries for help and came to her assistance.
No arrests have been made.
