An 80-year-old farmer who has not been seen or heard from in over a week has been discovered in a room in his house with his arm pinned under a heavy machine.
Police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says the farmer who lives alone at Martindale Farm on Sanctuary Road in Thornhill got in trouble when the machine fell on top of him.
She says neighbours became concerned about his whereabouts and called SAPS Thornhill to assist.
Colonel Naidu says when police arrived on the farm they forced open the door where they made the discovery.
She says the man was weak and dehydrated and rushed to a hospital in Gqeberha.
