Police in Cambridge, East London are investigating an armed robbery after an elderly couple was robbed on their farm in Komga on Thursday evening.
Spokesperson Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana says it is alleged that two men entered the home of the couple aged 82 and 87, demanding the safe keys.
He says the suspects took firearms and the couple's house keys before fleeing in their bakkie.
Kinana says they drove in the direction of East London but police launched a chase and caught up with them near Cambridge.
The suspects opened fire and police returned fire, injuring one of them.
Kinana says the man was taken to hospital under police guard while his accomplice is still at large.
The elderly couple was not injured.
