A couple in their 70's have been found at the notorious lookout point called Voëlklip in Herold’s Bay with gunshot wounds to the head.
Police spokesperson Captain Malcolm Pojie says a passerby found the body of a man with his critically injured wife seated next to him on a bench at the lookout point near George on Sunday afternoon at around 4.
Pojie says the man's wife was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.
He says it is believed that the couple walked from their home in Herold's Bay to one of the lookout points at Voëlklip.
A preliminary investigation suggests that the husband first shot his wife and thereafter himself.
Police have opened a case of murder and attempted murder.
