Police in Nelson Mandela Bay have identified the elderly couple who were found dead in the bathtub of their home in a retirement village in Park Drive on Sunday morning.
The couple, who were last seen alive on the 15th of April, have been identified as 81-year-old Anthony John Christopher and his 79-year-old wife Margaret Anne.
A caregiver raised the alarm which led to the grim discovery.
Colonel Priscilla Naidu says the results of a post mortem are still being awaited but that no foul play is suspected in the death of the husband.
Margaret Anne Christopher sustained multiple stab wounds.
Colonel Naidu says nothing was taken from the house and there were no signs of forced entry.
The investigation continues.
According to the Nelson Mandela University (NMU) Anthony Christopher was an Emeritus Professor and Research Associate at the Geosciences Department for many years.
